For some the summer holidays are over, for some they are only about to begin. I decided to dedicate my whole autumn and winter showing you places that are cool to visit after summer, when you have that summer blues.
To be honest, a lot of people have started doing the off seasons. They are smart. In off season there are no crowds and no stress, and prices are much much lower than during peak season. I myself am an off season type of girl. I don’t like moving like a snail through a crowd of people, and I don’t like waiting in lines.
So my first choice of the off season year was Cote d’Azur specifically Nice.
I chose a cozy little hotel just off the main strip called Splendid Hotel. I can’t be sure about exact price because it changes from availability but let’s say that a double bed room on the weekend in September would cost you from $180 to $280. I was looking at suites as well which range from $290 per night. When you think hotel prices in general, this is a very good price at a very good time.
Splendid hotel was my first choice not because of the room types but because of what it offers. Obviously the rooftop with a perfect breakfast view and an amazing pool with panoramic view of Nice. It also holds a Spa at the bottom, and is very close to most things you will need, such as pharmacy, train station, city centre, etc.
As you will notice from the photos, Splendid hotel is not a very modern hotel, it is charmed more by the classical interior which suites the soul of the city. My room may have not been the biggest, but I was on the 7th floor and did catch some epic sunrises from my balcony.
One other cool thing was the bathroom window opening to the balcony. Room was pretty good inside nicely placed on top and was very quiet.
Rooftop is my favourite part of this hotel after all. It is really nice to enjoy some morning coffee and soak the sun. I lied to myself that I would be working, but it was so nice, I couldn’t even think about work.
During the night, the rooftop turns in to a nice lounge bar where you can see city lights shimmering as you sip on your wine.
In all places, there are good and bad sides. I was pleasantly surprised at the hotels location, quietness, price and offerings but I didn’t really like the breakfast options and think that there should be more options In terms of food since the hotel has such a great rooftop. They should add an a’la carte breakfast in their offer, but this is not a reason not to book the hotel, apart from that small issue I had, the hotel was very nice and a very good choice.
Overall my stay was very nice, and I would go back to the same place. I reccomend you to look into doing off season as it is really gorgeous. Tommorow I will show you what we did around the hotel so you can see what to expect if you stay at Splendid Hotel and Spa by any chance.
Read you tommorow 😀
