I hope you this week has pampered you , and if didn’t please let me know and I’ll fix something for you so that you feel better.
I wanted to share with you an event in which I participated on Wednesday. In fact, for those who do not know, I’m rounding circles with London bloggers and often get invited to events that are associated with fashion, food and travel. The other day I received an interesting invite in the mail. They invited me to come to the promotion of SKYR yogurt! Just so you are aware, Yogurt and I are not such close friends, so I was hoping that if I go, they will change my mind. On the other hand, I wanted to meet new people, because it’s not easy to meet people in London, since most of the time I work. The evening before, as you can see on my old post, I had a little ‘fun day’ ‘and I fell asleep very late, and I had to get up as early as 6 !!! I hate alarms and alarm clocks from the bottom of my heart, and hate oversleeping as well. Unfortunately, London is one very ” busy ” town and everything is happening in the morning, which to me, as a Croat, is a quite uneasy sport. I’ve never been an ” early bird ”. If you have to love of following blogs ,this will be a fine delicacy. Most of the girls who came write blogs about food and related topics. Some of their blogs I could not read completely because I drooled on the keyboard. (I’m not nice when I drool). The alarm clock did not even get to ring. I had a dream this morning that I was late to the promotion and that they were all yelling at me, so my ” Kramer ” clock (who has not watched ” friends ” will not know what I’m saying) woke me up five minutes before the alarm clock. I got up out of bed like dancers in ” Thriller ” of Michael Jackson. The only difference is that I look like a zombie naturally, and had no special effects makeup on. My hair was greasy and unkempt, and I had no idea what to wear. I assumed that all the girls will be prim’n’proper, so I decided to make a styling which I called ” last season outfit ”. I sort of ”ran” with my sleepy two left feet to the London ” tube ” and pushed my way in to the already crowded subway. I love the smell of un-showered people in the morning.
I still have problems finding my way around London. It is a huge city and if I do not have a GPS, I cry like a lost child in Tesco’s. Out of breath and tired and I came running to the site minutes before the start.
Event started in the lovely Soho Hotel. We were greeted with a large table and a couple of girls were already sitting there. They served us coffee and juices while we were chatting and talking about our blogs. Normally, I came dressed up over the top, while all the other girls came in jeans and T-shirts. Completely normal, as it normally is in London. I was jealous. I am actually really disappointed with London’s fashion scene completely. Those few people that you follow from London, are usually dressed good, because they have to. And also paid to wear it as well. Damn you! 😀
The SKYR yogurts arrived, coffee was poured around and eye bags were less visible. A few words were exchanged among us in between awkward silences. Nutritionist Charlotte, gave us a couple of interesting tips for cooking. She said it was naturally low in fat and sugar, and that she used instead bechamel sauce in lasagnas, or cream in general. Too bad she gave me that idea because knowing myself, I will have another ” failed ” attempt at cooking again. The girls who came were gifted with appetite, and fun! I normally eat a lot of times a day, but mostly like a bird so I left the competition. I never really did eat breakfast because I hate rules. Desserts as main courses for me, are a standard thing. I just like to switch it up you know? The agency, which organized the whole event did not make a huge fuss about this yogurt. SKYR is otherwise a very famous yogurt in Scandinavia and I remember when I was in Denmark everyone was on it. Personally I ate it after work when I came home, to settle my stomach wars. It is logical to me that Scandinavians (who are otherwise obsessed with sports and gyms) love this yogurt.
The entire promotion had a lot of potential, however…my opinion is that they could have done a few things differently. For example, food was on a ‘buffet table’ ‘which is typical Scandinavian behavior ha-ha. I think they knew that we all use Instagram, and you know what is important on Instagram? Food styling. At least I think so. People worship photos of food on Instagram, so I was a bit disappointed that they didn’t get some awesome food installations 😀 Oh well…. Im just being spoiled ignore me! I tried all yogurts, because I’m a greedy hungry blogger. And I will admit they were exceptional. My plate did not look fancy, and these photos are the best I could do.
During the period of feeding the hungry bloggers I was able to gather a couple of links, so when I put the photos of the girls, their blogs will be underneath if you’re interested to look.
As our conversations reached their end, Peter Berthoud (an amazing tourist guide by the way!) took us on a little tour of SOHO and showed us places that we’ve never heard of before. For example this is the shortest street in London, and some hidden historical gem’s that were so funny, even hard core Londoners didn’t believe it!
Frankly, it’s great to be a blogger in London. It is important when you write, because people are very fond of bloggers when they write from personal experience. It is also important to reach other countries and present the with other cultures and cities. Possibilities are great for all of you who are planning to open a blog, you only need to be active and socialize with others and give them support. If you have any interesting recipes with yogurts, share with me, I wan to know how creative you are! Thank you all for supporting me on facebook and for helping me reach my 150 000 milestone! You are awesome!
